Week 7 of the NFL sees the Seattle Seahawks visiting the Arizona Cardinals in a NFC West divisional match up.
Seattle are currently in 1st place with a 4-1 record whereas the Cardinals are third with a 3-3 record. Both teams are coming off much needed victories. The Seahawks defeated the Atlanta Falcons 26-24 in a tense battle whilst the Cardinals are coming off a much needed victory against the New York Jets which presumably had boosted their confidence.
David Johnson is arguably the Cardinals best player this season having scored 3 TD’s against the Jets. He is averaging 5 yards per carry and already has 568 rushing yards scoring 8 TD’s in the process. He is the man the Cardinals have looked towards this season as we haven’t seen the Carson Palmer of last season. Palmer already has 5 INT’s this season as well as 3 fumbles, he hasn’t looked as effective in the pocket compared to last season. It is obvious that the Cardinals have been struggling, however a victory against the Seahawks will boost their confidence.
The Seattle Seahawks are on a 3 match winning streak. Russell Wilson has been banged up for the majority of the season with a high ankle sprain as well as a knee injury. Regardless, he is still fighting for the team and giving his best and we saw a glimpse of that last week on a crucial 3rd down where he escaped from the pocket, ran towards the sidelines away from two Atlanta defensive players and found Alex Collins for the 1st down. Wilson is highly considered a mobile QB with his ability to scramble from the pocket and use his legs to defeat opponents, however since his week 1 injury against the Dolphins, we just haven’t seen the same Russell Wilson.
Then theres the revival of TE Jimmy Graham. Graham wasn’t as effective as Seattle hoped he would be last season as his season was cut short with a knee injury. This season however is a completely different story. The connection between Wilson and Graham is slowly unravelling into something special. On the road to Arizona will be a tough matchup and the Seahawks may have to go to Arizona without Kam Chancellor who is nursing a groin injury. Chancellors presence was missed last week and it could prove to be vital again this week if he doesn’t play.
I think both defences will play a pivotal part in the game so don’t expect a high scoring match up. For Arizona to win the game, they must feed David Johnson the ball otherwise they won’t stand a chance in the air.
